About the Book

WHO DESIRES US ILL, although set against a backdrop of medical practice, is above all a human drama. A modern day tragedy, taking place in and around New Orleans, it chronicles the spiral of descent into which an idealistic young physician perceives himself to plunge as a result of circumstances and forces beyond his control. It is the story of his attempts at recovery, efforts which become increasingly futile as his own reactions to events cause him to slip into a sense of desperation in which he is alienated even from the reach of those who love him.

This is also the story of a good man who slowly comes to believe that he is being led and manipulated by ancient forces which he does not understand. He comes to recognize their impact as he sees any hope of their control slip from his grasp.

Finally, WHO DESIRES US ILL is the tale of how one man clings to a fragile and veiled glimpse of hope, as an emotional lifeline is tossed his way time and again by a helper whom he long believes to be a creation of his imagination. Only in the startling and disturbing conclusion does he decide, though perhaps too late, that she actually exists.

Readers can draw their own conclusions about the existence of his guardian. They can also draw their own conclusions about whether this story is a tale of tragedy or one of hope.
