About the Author

Melbourne Peat was born in Belvedere Portland, Jamaica. He is one of twelve children of Easton Peat (deceased) and Mabel Peat.

Melbourne Peat seved fifteen years in the Jamaica constabulary force before migrating to the United States in 1983.

Melbourne Peat was greatly influenced by the autobiography of Malcolm X , and after completing reading it he began reading five books per week. Mr. Peat completed his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts Social Science from Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey and has continued his studies at Montclair State University.

Melbourne Peat has had his poetry published by the National Library of Poetry, The Poetry Guild, IBID Essex County Yearly Book, and a short story in The Greater News Weekly Journal.
