Hyperactivity/ADHD-- New Solutions brings you the latest information related to the causes of hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  The information comes from the medical school library at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas and from various authors whose books are available in bookstores.

Included are medical test of 29 children with these disorders.  Also there are case studies demonstrating the efficacy of nutritional and dietary treatments in the changing of brain function and behavior.

Questionnaires are provided for the purpose of collecting information and measuring improvement.  Suggestions as to what foods to eat and what supplements to take are provided.  The last chapter gives specific instructions on “What To Do-- Step By Step”.


About the Author

Shirley Lacy graduated from Austin College.  She taught school and worked for the Department of the Army in Germany.  She received a Masters Degree from SMU and a Ph. D. from The University of North Texas.

She has taken part in research projects studying the biochemistry of hyperactive children with or without ADD as well as the blood, urine and hair of alcoholic and/or drug addicts.  Questioning 100 alcoholic/drug addicts in treatment she found that 25% of them had been diagnosed with hyperactivity, ADD or both.  Studying 24 incarcerated youths ages 13-17 she learned that 23 had been diagnosed with ADD, 14 were hyperactive and 22 had abused alcohol and/or drugs.  100% had symptoms of low serotonin.

Dr. Lacy has worked for 23 years with clients having behavior disorders and addictions.  She is an LPC, LCDC and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist.

Dr. Lacy’s late husband, Larry Lacy was a respected architect in Dallas where his company designed the DFW Hilton, Royal Oaks and Bent Tree Country Clubs, office buildings and more than 100,00 apartments.  He drew the blood sugar curves in this book.
