About the Book

Many of us reach Adulthood not ever aware that we have an Inner Child who's thoughts, feelings and early decisions {Core Beliefs) unconsciously govern our every action and reaction. We make child-like decisions which are no longer functional in our adult lives. This book offers a series of experiences which are based on profound knowledge of developmental psychology. These suggested processes focus on the healing of past trauma. The book helps us to raise a new and deeper awareness of the Inner Child in each one of us.

As we grow up, we humans pass through specific stages which are clearly delineated in the Literature. We know that when our growing up is disturbed by trauma, neglect, overindulgence or other kinds of discounting of our very nature we are left with scars on our soul and psyche. These psychic scars can be gently revived, re-experienced and filled with the loving infusion of ReChilding and Corrective Parenting experiences which are described in this book. Given healthy relationships with healthy therapists who deeply understand the Stages of Development for normal Human beings one can understand that it truly is "Never too late to have a happy Childhood".

About the Author

Elaine is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a private practice in Seattle, Wa. She has practiced since 1970, and was the first Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to establish a practice in the Northwest. With her husband, Richard Gowell she raised four adopted children who were attachment disordered before this diagnostic category was established. She wishes she had known what she does now in raising their own adopted children. In her practice with adults she recognized that most of her clients had bonding difficulties she called them her"motherless children" because the nature of their discomfort and dysfunction was classically due to lack of attachment and bonding when they were young. Typically her clients' Self Care skills were minimal, many suffer with addictive behaviors and depression, which is often indicative of deep grief. She is certified in a number of modalities including EMDR, Hypnotherapy, EFT, TFT, Cognitive Behavioral processes and Reiki. The Corrective Parenting, Rechilding and Reparenting procedures and "rituals" were developed as a result of Elaine's experience writing her PhD dissertation about the Cathexis Institute in Oakland California where the Reparenting process was developed and her own experience with helping clients heal their developmental needs. She is the author of Reparenting Schizophrenics: the Cathexis Experience. Bodyscript Blockbusting, and Good Grief Rituals. Stages of Ages: it's never too late to have a happy childhood and Regression and Protection: a Handbook for practitioners doing deep regressive work with clients. She teaches workshops and gives speeches on the Good Grief Rituals processes at conferences around the world and continues a private practice in Seattle.
