Major froze. While in the woods he had heard a dry rasping sound several times. He couldn't identify it, but assumed it was some type of beetle, locust or bird that was making the unfamiliar sound. Major was already sweating from his stealthy activities, but now sweat broke out anew on his whole body, his mind screamed with horror. Two feet ahead of the sweat soaked and horror strickened Major was a coiled rattlesnake. He didn't move a muscle. Time froze. Almost in slow motion Major watched the pit vipers tongue slide in and out of it's slit like mouth. Major had two tremendous fears in his life.One was needles, the other one was snakes. He had never thought about snakes in West Virginia and he was shocked. Major winced inwardly. All of those times he heard the buzzing in the woods! He never even considered this type of danger.. What if he had been bitten? What would he have done? Major tried to slow his frenzied mind down. He had been lucky in the woods, but he needed more than luck if he wanted to get out of this predictment unscathed. The rattler had quit buzzing it's rattles, but was still staring him right in the eyes. What other dangers did Major not consider? How was he going to pull this off? Was he in over his head? Time to find out.

About the Book
Major Brown is an average man with an average job working in the coal fields. He is deeply in love with his wife, Jill and their son Brok. A day of happiness is rudely destroyed by the avarice of a man that makes his living on the black market of illegal child adoption. But Major Brown has more tools than most people. He is a black belt in karate and in quarter staff fighting and he is more than eager to use all of his skills. He quits his job and uses his unique talents to find his child. About the Author
Grandmaster Rodney L. Baumberger, 55, has been in the martial arts for over 27 years. He and his wife, Joni, started in 1984 and opened up Baumberger Karate in 1988 He hold a 7th dan black belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do and was associated with the late D.H. Choi out of Canton, Ohio. He also holds a 5th dan black belt in the full contact art of Bong-Sool. He won 3 state titles in Bong and was once ranked #1 in the nation by the innovator of the sport. Grandmaster Choi. He also won or placed in the kata divisions of Bong. He traveled to Colorado in 1988 and placed 5th in the middleweight division of the A.A.U. Tae Kwon Do nationals. Baumberger fought in 3 nationals and was always in the top ten. Grandmaster Baumberger fought in many types of tournaments, both open hand and Bong, winning some and losing some. His greatest victories were the dedicated students that studied under him along with his wife and his son, Brock. (Brock started formal training at the age of two and cranked out many wins at many tournaments.) Grandmaster Baumberger was inducted in the S.O.M.A. (Society of Martial Artists) in 1996, sponsored by the founder the late Grandmaster Clarence West of . Wintersville, of which is a source of pride for Baumberger. Grandmaster Baumberger is also proud that his son also was inducted in 2004. He retired from fighting at the age of 51 due to a career ending injury. Baumberger Karate is still operating today.
