About the Book
There is a town in South Carolina that is called Ninety Six. It's history dates back to the early settlement of the South Carolina back country. This is the first of five books I plan to write on the town of Ninety Six and the Star Fort Historic Site.
Bronco Manley lives in the small rural town of Ninety Six, SC. He learned to hunt at a very young age. His mother taught him the history of Ninety Six and of the British fort, Star Fort.
He kills an extraordinarily large buck (male deer). He has it mounted and hangs it on the wall in his room. The mount's glowing eyes catapult him into the past. He finds himself in the Old Town of Ninety Six. He has many adventures in the 17th century town.
Go with Bronco into the past and learn about the small rural town that has a number for its name and its name in its zip code.
About the Author
I am a retired public school teacher. I lived in Ninety Six, SC, for 24 years. I taught middle school English and reading for 8 years. Then I moved to the high school where I taught English, reading, and chorus.
I became interested in the history of Ninety Six. I collected information and created a teaching unit on Ninety Six and Star Fort Historical Site. I have always felt that if a person lives in a town, he or she should know the history of the town.
My family and I went through several hobbies. We trained and showed appaloosa horses. We competed in muzzleloading matches. We did primitive camping with pre-1740 clothing and camping gear.
The town of Ninety Six is working to revitalize the area and promote the history of the town and Star Fort Historic Site.
I hope that my books will help in this endeavor.
