Ever since she was a little calf, Missy the Moose knew that she was not the same as everyone else. Missy was a white-furred albino moose. Other moose would stare at here in wide-eyed amazement when they would see her. Some would even stroke her fur.
When the sun became too warm for Missy’s family, they would go down to the local pond and go for a nice long swim. Missy loved to swim, as do most moose. Her parents would stand in the pond up to their shoulders. Her mother kept a close eye on her. Missy would dive down and nibble at the water lilies that grew at the bottom of the pond. At least once a day when Missy was at the pond, she would catch a glimpse of her reflection in the still parts of the water.
Missy would always ask her mother why she was a different color than her parents. “That is because you were made special and unique and very beautiful,” replied her mother.
Missy accepted that she was a white moose, but she always knew that she was very different from anyone else.

The Adventures of Missy the Moose is about a moose named Missy who has snow white fur. When Missy begins school she becomes informed as to how different she is. You can follow Missy on her journey towards self-acceptance as she begins to realize that being different may be good.
This story is for kids who feel different from others who are around them. It makes being different less scary and helps young people to realize that they can accomplish their goals and dreams.

Although this is my first published book, I have written as a hoppy for as long as I can remember. I created an illustrated book at the age of six which to this day sits in the library of my elementary school.
