About the Author

Dr. Donald Small earned the Ph.D. Degree in Education Administration Research from the University of Kansas in 1978. Professionally, Dr. Small is currently Director of Faculty Development and Professor of Education at Voorhees College, Denmark,  South Carolina where he is engaged as a consultantative professional resource to aspiring Faculty. He also teaches  Statistics and Research in the Colleges Adult Education Program, and collects and manages much of the college's perfomance data . He was formerly a tenured professor of Statistics and Research with South Carolina State University's doctoral and specialist programs in Educational Administration , for which he is a co-founder. At SCSU he taught courses in Research, Statistics, and Computer Package Applications in the Specialist and Doctoral programs in the Education Leadership Program of which he is a co-founder.  At South Carolina State, Dr. Small was also Principal investigator for the Sankofa Language Aptitude Development Project; a demonstration Project funded under 1890 Research and Extension. Dr. Small has had varied training and experience in teaching strategies and applications in education at all levels, elementary, middle school, high school, and college. A former Sixth Grade Teacher and Middle School Administrator in high-poverty settings, Dr. Small has first-hand knowledge of how “At-Risk” students learn.  Privately, Dr. Small has served with the Orangeburg Aviation Commission for more than 13 years, and is a charter member of the South Carolina Aviation Association.
