About the Book

Bernie, the large, energetic sheepdog, is taken to Doggy Day Care to help him learn to behave. But Bernie has been raised on the farm. He's covered in fleas and has never had any shots. Dot, the day care director, finds this dog more than she can handle. Dot's own dog, Sweet Fifi, a tiny poodle, really takes a shine to Bernie. Dot has a difficult decision to make!

About the Author

Patricia Hopkins was an elementary school teacher for thirty-four years. Most of those years were spent teaching a combination of first grade and music. This is her third children’s book in the Bernie series. The first two books were Hey Bernie! and Bernie Meets Sam. Each book is written in rhyming stanzas and narrated by the main character, a sheepdog named Bernie. Patricia was raised in the small town of Wedron with her parents and three brothers. They lived on a tiny farm where her family had a variety of animals, including almost all the animals portrayed in her books. She received a bachelor of music education degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and master of elementary education degree from Northern Illinois in Dekalb, Illinois. Hopkins was selected teacher of the year for LaSalle County in Illinois. She is active in her church, where she serves on the praise team and has directed the choir for the last fifty years. She presently lives in Ottawa, Illinois.
