This Earth was not his home world. At least not until now! He was born on a planet far away in another star system. And when he and his men were aware there wasn't any chance they could get their people off the planet, he and his team lifted off in their security ship, pretending they were on just another mission to one of the neighboring moons, when in reality they had discovered 'others' lived on a planet called Earth and it amazed them that their appearance was similar to their own. So it would be possible to intermingle and find new lives there for he and his men. Lives with wonderfully friendly women rather than the cruel power hungry females that populated their own world. With the extreme heat killing most females as the nova of their planet approached, his team looked forward to finding love in the arms of a compassionate Earth woman.
But Shelley suspected there was something different about Kearn but was afraid to ask. So it would be up to Kearn to find a way to explain the unexplainable to her.

Kearn's hand came up to her chin and lifted it so he might peer into her eyes. He wanted to know what she wanted in life and he wanted to be the one to get it for her. He opened his senses and searched for her responses. Immediately she reacted and her eyes locked with his. Again she felt as though she was melting into him. She was becoming a part of him. Then he blinked and she felt released.
Shelly blinked a couple times to try and clear her mind. What had just happened? She wasn't sure, but she knew it had something to do with Kearn's eyes. She was afraid to look at them again for fear she would lose herself there.
Was she so sensitive that she could know when he opened his senses? When Kearn had followed Sarah, she led him right to where Gabe was lying, unconscious again. He was astounded to discover that Shelley may be as sensitive as well.
Kearn wasn't happy about Shelley feeling fearful around him. She didn't understand what was going on when he opened his senses and after she felt the drawing, she was afraid. He didn't know how to explain it to her without telling her the whole story. Their relationship wasn't secure enough for him to do that yet. But somehow he needed to gain her trust sufficiently so she would not be so fearful. He almost wished she didn't feel when his senses opened to scan. But it was such a special sharing. One in which very few couples might have the opportunity to share, that he also didn't want to lose that. It seemed to mark them as a couple. And if that was taken away, then perhaps they might never be a couple.
About the Author
Writing has always been something I wanted to do. In my school years I wrote romance for my girlfriends. They encouraged me to write more, but there wasn't enough time. During College I attended a Police Report Writing Class learning a lot. My profession required investigations on many subjects including those on vehicle accidents. As I decided to take an early retirement I began writing in earnest. With a dozen romances on the shelf and several children's stories as well, I continue to write to share the joy of finding that perfect other half for many women's dreams.
