Chapter 16 "Falling in Love with the Sea", page 363.
On the afternoon of the fourteenth week at sea, land was noticeable on both sides of the ship once more, and Johnny asked the ship's first mate what they were. "Commander Addockerus... what lands are those over there? He asked as he pointed out the supposed areas of earth, wondering if he could really see land of if it weren't some optical illusion caused by clouds over the horizon.
"Ah my boy," the old salt said with a grin offered to the lad, "That to the starboard side there,... that would be the coast of eastern Hispania, and there," he said pointing off to their port side, adding knowingly, "...would be the upper African coast of Morocco. Is she not the most beautiful of sights?"
"Yes, I suppose it is kind of nice looking." Johnny told him as he studied the coastal mountain areas of the extreme northern African continent. "It sure would look a whole lot nicer from on shore though," the youth said wishfully.....
"Oh, ... aye, I suppose that there are times when the land seems more inviting than not, ... but it is still the sea, ... that is what I love the best, me boy, ... the sea. You see son, the sea is... is like a lover, unlike any other you may find in all of your days. She can be gentle and true, or rough and deadly; she can hold treasures of great wealth for the merchants and sailors alike, or bring ruin for those who try in vain to tame her. She can, at times, be smoothing, comforting and can cradle you in her loving arms of mercy; although she is also unforgiving to the foolish and weak hearted. She can be agreeable, ... and yet, as fearfully evil hearted in her dealing with the men who have falling in love with her as any women you may come to know. But, above all else, and this something I have learned from the many years I had lived with her... she is always cold and aloof of her lovers, and always ready to sap the life from each of them as sure as heatedly as any woman you may find on land. But of a truth,... aside from any misgiving a man may have of her, and aside of any real fault she may have,.... she is never untrue to her lovers - not, that is, as being unfaithful; she has never been one to be entirely honest, mind you,... indeed, as a matter of this fact, she has many more secrets than any female might,... but she is never untrue as so many women can be on the shores of any land you visit..."
The First Mates words tailed off as his eyes lost focus in the deep dark blue waters beyond the ship's side and the deeply green hills in the distant land beyond. "Wow, Commander,... you really do seemed deeply emotional about the work you do and this life you live, but ... have you always felt this way, or when did you first learn to love the sea life?" Johnny asked on, feeling a sense of awe and reverence in what this sailor had to say.

About the Book
A common man writes a rebutal to a periodical and his ideas on how to fix the school sytem and society which catches on with the elitist of society. This causes a fire storm of change that radically takes over all world goverenments and eliminates all religions. The book focuses in on a bunch of young people who are in different parts of the system. They are united with their grandparents who are living in a commune outside of society. They are considered outlaws and rebels. The community is all retired military and scientists. The lead scientist is a beautiful lady who has fallen in love with a doctor of Arts. She was on the verge of finding a way off of earth using a type of black hole therory, which turned into a portale to the past. As the N.W.S.S. (New World Social Society) police was about to find them out in their secret underground military installation. The whole community was transported back in time to ancient Greece. They decided to find the fable lost city of Atlantis. If they can't find it they are going to make their own.
About the Author
Keith Dale Hickman, the stories creator, was born in Alanta Georgia in March 1959, but has spent most of his youth to adulthood on Chicago south side (South Shore). At age eighteen he joined the United States Navy, serving in the Submarine Service as a Interior Communication Electrician until his retirement in Dec. 1994. He served onboard three Fleet Ballastic Nuclear Submarines. One tour as a Naval Instructor as the Course Curriculum Model Manager for the S.N.A.P.II System, and three Different Fast Attack Submarines. in March 2008 received his thirty year retirement from the U.S. Navy. In Dec. 2001 he received a Certificate in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling. Finnally in May 2008 he received his Associates in Arts Degree in Social Science, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Workforce Education and Development. He is married with three step children and ten grandchildren.

Jonathan Robert Casey was born in Los Angeles and lived near the ocean until he joined the United States Navy at the age of eighteen, spending the majority of his tour onboard an Attack Class Aircraft Carrier. After completing his tour in the Navy, he went on to spend another twelve years in the United States Army Reserves as a Medic. He was a Retired Nurse, and is now deceased. We honor his memory as a war veteran, nurse, church leader, father and loving husband. His loving wife Karen helped in the completion of the first book "Death To Freedom, The Beginning". Ourblessings go out to her and their family, for all they have contributed to fredom and these tthree books (Ten Bears to Destiny,Death to Freedom parts I and II).
