How Do I Submit a Book for Publishing?
You’ve spent quite some time working on your story—dotting your i’s and crossing your t’s—and now you’re ready to submit your manuscript for publishing. But you’re not sure how to go about the process.
Here’s how it works.
You’ll start by having an in-depth conversation with a Publishing Consultant to discuss your book goals, needs, and even budget. From there, you can decide on the services that would best suit your publishing goals.
You can then submit your complete materials to us as a hard copy, but we prefer submissions in electronic form (CD, disk, or e-mail attachment). Submitting your manuscript this way gives you more creative control while cutting both cost and production time.
In some cases, your manuscript will have to be resized from the margins in your word processing program to fit within your book size. We will take care of this and renumber the pages and table of contents during the book design process.
Next, you will next work with our production staff to determine your book’s dimensions. AuthorHouse offers several options:
- 5” x 8”, 6”x 9”, or 8.25” x 11” for black and white printing
- 8.5” x 8.5” or 8.5” x 11” for full-color printing
Other things to note:
- If your book will be available in hardcover (always 6 x 9 inches), your paperback will be formatted as a 6 x 9 inches as well.
- Your book will be printed in high-quality trade paperback and/or hardcover format, with a full-color, glossy, and laminated cover.
- The interior pages will be printed on high-quality paper, and interior images will be in black and white, unless you choose our color printing option, which allows for full-color images inside your book.
- We will design a front cover at no additional cost to you, based on instructions that you provide to us. If you prefer submitting your own cover design, we will provide you with design specifications.
