About the Book

In this novel a couple in Annapolis, Maryland create a company with a huge goal: reduce the wait times in Emergency Rooms. Eric DeYoung, a known cardiac patient, had to recently wait 12 hours in the ER of a local hospital before being seen by a doctor. With his wife, Nancy, the couple realizes that the problem is only getting worse due to the shortage of medical personnel and the aging population. Their new company, AMERICARE, hires key doctors from the National Capital Region to implement a trial 10-point plan. The company modifies a walk-thru airport scanner to create a fixed and mobile BIOSCANNER to detect problems early enough for action in clinics rather than in the Emergency Room. AMERICARE completes several actions which effectively reduce the ER wait times with their products and services. They include: new funded hospitals, modified college curriculums called MEDISTEM which applies STEM processes to medical problems, importing more certified foreign doctors, employing a new MediWand to detect cancers and incentive packages to delay physician’s retirements. In the end, the couple and their life-saving friend, Dr. Cox, are awarded the President Medal of Freedom.
