About the Author

R. Conley Ricker, Jr., founder of Virginia Commerce Bank, N.A., organized the bank from his attic office in 1987-1988, which became the largest community bank head-quartered in Northern Virginia with 28-Branch Banking Offices and assets of nearly $3 billion before being acquired by United Bank of Charleston, West Virginia. He received his BA and his MBA from the University of Virginia after which his career focused on engineering the financial turnaround of troubled banks in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia areas. Residing in Winter Hill in Falls Church, Virginia, he is the author of our books: Big Cedar Farewell, The Baton, A Memoir: Grandeur Unexpected, and Midnight Ditties.
