About the Book

Both educational and fun and during their summer holidays, Walter and his friends went on 6 adventures! – one for every week of the break from school. The first adventure – I am not ready. The second adventure – Help Dennis find his dog. The third adventure – Sally the Scarecrow breaks her leg. The fourth adventure – Help the cattle stay safe. The fifth adventure – Quick, there is a fire. The sixth and final adventure of the school holidays – Walter forgets the ice-cream. Walter the Waller is a unique family of fictional characters that do not exist in reality but do exist within our children’s imagination. Walter and his family live inside a drystone wall in The East Midlands region of England. They are blissfully asleep, dormant and in hibernation most of the time. They come alive, but only to a privileged few, when a magical phrase is spoken. That magical phrase is ‘Wake Up Walter’. They are kind, compassionate and caring and have a strong sense of adventure and refuse to give up in the face of difficulty. Through each story, the loveable characters are introduced, the scenes around a typical English farm set, and the reader drawn into a wonderful world of adventure - with each story based on clear and concise storytelling, featuring events on the farm that at first appear to be insurmountable, but then finish with a feel good ‘all is well ending’.
