About the Book

JIMMY ROE is a retired Public-School Educator. He served as High School Boys Basketball Coach. Principal, and Superintendent for 32 years. Over the years, Roe has witnessed all types of school events. Some of the events have provided stories that are both humorous and serious in nature. His success in Education was attributed to his childhood experience.
Roe grew up in Mulberry, a small rural town in Northwest Arkansas in a poor neighborhood. His childhood years were a special time of country living. A loving family provided the much-needed shelter, food, and clothes for school and church. These were hard times but Roe’s father, J. D. Roe, worked as a carpenter and somehow met the needs of the family. These hard times are the main inspiration for the writing of this book.
Roe’s childhood memories assisted him in dealing with the different student situations that arose from the many different school events. The childhood years are a time when we all can relate and share with each other.
The true stories in this book might be familiar to many readers as they will probably relate to this time in their life as young children. The childhood years are a special time in our lives for many reasons.
As you read this book, I hope you will agree that this period in each one’s life served as a unique time and with special memories. This collection of true experiences will hopefully spark your memories and add much delight to the reading of this material.
Roe wanted to capture the pictures of country living in hard times to help his Granddaughters see more clearly the differences of the 50’s and the modern conveniences of today’s world. Hopefully they will obtain a better understanding after reading this book.
