They call me Net, and I’m the wife of Lot, and this is my story.
“Lot! Lot! You won’t believe it! A journalist from Lucrative Elites will be coming by tomorrow to do an interview with me!” I rush in the door and Lot is sitting in his chair sipping a glass of wine. My two younger daughters and my two servants run out and greet me and hug me as I tell them that I will be on the cover of Lucrative Elites and they want to do my story on how I became such a fabulous fashion designer! They also want to write how I also paved the way for girls to go to school and live their lives to their fullest potential! I look at Lot and excitedly tell him, “I have so much information and history that I should divulge that has shaped me into the exquisite woman I am today!” Lot just looks at me and rolls his eyes. My friends and associates can’t believe I married such a man, but he was my only way out of the barbarian Amorite tribe, and I knew I could play him like a harp and get him to live in luxury in Sodom, even though he hates living in Sodom. He comes home every day moping and complaining about the elders at the gate and how their language has become extremely obscene and their judgements among the people are not fair. Bribery has become a way of life, and it sickens Lot to have to be there. But he keeps thinking that one day someone will listen to him about his God, the only true God of heaven and earth.
I am so excited that I tell them that I will not be eating with them tonight, but I would like a glass of wine and some sweet bread, and I will be sitting out on the veranda to get my thoughts together for the big interview. I walk out to the veranda and sit in my favorite overstuffed chair overlooking the magnificent city of Sodom. As I look over Sodom, I am so pleased to be living in a city that has the most advanced architectural homes, magnificent buildings, and elaborate temples. I am the richest and most blessed woman in all of Sodom and Gomorrah, and I have finally made a name for myself. It is so thrilling to be asked to be on the cover their magazine.
My fashion design business is already booming with people coming from all over the surrounding countries to see my latest fashions. And my next fashion show will be bigger and better with the clothes I am designing for same sex marriages. I have already begun having the material made at my manufacturing facility and the colors I am using are sure to be a big hit.
I sit back, take a deep breath, and I think back about how it all began. I close my eyes and begin remembering my family. Ah, my family. It has been a while since I have thought of them, especially my mother, my very supportive mother.
“Net, the wool is piling up and we need more material.” Mother says as I walk by her and enter the huge tent where my two sisters and eight aunts are spinning the wool, and I take my place to begin weaving the huge amount of spun wool. Mother agrees with me that I am not to be involved with the repulsive and nasty butchering of the animals to make the stew, because my talents are best used in spinning wool, weaving and creating beautiful material. She nicknamed me “Net” after the goddess Neith, who is the goddess of conflict and weaving. The name fits me so perfectly that everyone began calling me Net. I enjoy weaving and making beautiful clothes, and we brag how we are the best dressed tribe around. However, I am of the Amorite tribe, and there are often upheavals, fights and conflicts among us and the clothes we make quickly become very dirty and torn.
