About the Book

What if the things we saw online effected the way we saw the real world? 8th grader Ollie just discovered the power of “minting”. A minted image on the internet can appear visually in real life to the people who have seen the post online. A minting cannot effect the physical environment, but it can effect the people who see them. When Ollie mints his dinosaur drawing, it turns out the dinosaur can run around like a real dinosaur! It feels like the perfect pet because Ollie doesn’t have to feed it or clean up after it, Ollie names the dinosaur Spike. Inspired by his connection with Spike and the ability to sell minting ownership, Ollie recruits his friends Dameon, Carlos, and Eric in attempting to create 10,000 mintings of “Castle Kid” artwork. The artwork represents their true friendship, but they also want to make money with it. The four 8th graders embark on an ambitious adventure that tests their friendship, teaches them about business, grows their artistic abilities, and shows them how powerful the internet can truly be. One thing for sure, they cannot accomplish their goals without more help…

About the Author

Charles Fox is a content creator, musician, and underground event curator in Chicago Illinois. While releasing albums, music videos, and sports edits in his teens, he always identified himself as a “creator” not limited to one medium. He founded New England Poet Society with Cam Barnes in 2021, which was initially a band but also an outfit for his debut short documentary “Good Poetry” amongst other projects including his self published “The Best Poetry You Have Ever Read”. As a videographer in the Chicago event scene, he founded House Party Hotline with Bria Bridges as a way for anyone to find the coolest underground events in Chicago, without having to rely on social media. Fox gained attention in the Castle Kid community for his writing contributions to the Castle Kid short film script earning the title of 1/2 head writers. When Colin Tilley abandoned the project leaving the short film unfinished, Fox couldn’t abandon the universe concept for the Castle Kid story that he contributed. Fox decided to expand the concept into a different, longer story for a young adult book. After sharing some sample pages on Discord, the community voted to use communal funds to publish this Castle Kid story so that these ideas can continue to grow. You can follow Charles Fox on Instagram and Tik Tok, @CharlesFoxCreates as he continues to make the world a more conversational place allowing the best ideas to come to life.
