About the Book

Although there are many hidden jewels within the scriptures, many believers miss these nuggets of valuable wisdom. In a devotional shared to help believers identify the hidden treasures in the Bible, James Allen addresses many subjects and includes original writings that examine why the Word of God is like a diamond in the rough that requires believers to dig for truths, and studies insights extracted from the New Testament including the Pharisees’ plots to kill Jesus, why the disciples thought they saw a ghost in the midst of a storm, pride vs. humility, and much more. Following a discussion of the Old Testament that contemplates what it would be like to step on Holy Ground or see the Glory of the Lord and an original article about whether it is right for Christians to drink alcohol, Allen covers fulfilled prophecy from certain Psalms that address the betrayal of Judas from every detail of the crucifixion to Judas being exposed. My Thoughts on Scripture is a unique devotional that thoroughly examines valuable insights hidden within the Bible that provide timeless wisdom for today’s Christians.

About the Author

Growing up as a kid I learned many valuable lessons, some were easy to learn, but some were at the end of a paddle board. My lessons came hard for me because they were not always spelled out for me. When I finally learned to read, the lessons were still hard, but learning them was much easy. As I got older the lessons didn’t get any easier, they just got more complex, but they also got much more rewarding. Then a Pastor in the local church introduced me to reading the Bible on a daily bases. That’s when things really began to change, my life seemed to have some purpose. Christ Jesus became real , not just another curse word. The Bible didn’t make much sense to me at that time, but the more I read it the more it began to come alive. I started teaching Youth Sunday school. Eventually I enrolled at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon (later renamed Multnomah Bible College). My first wife and I were married just before I Was released from the Navy in 1963. We were married for eight years, had a girl and two boys, before my wife died of heart complications. I had to quit school, stay home with the kids so I could spend time with them in the evening, then off to a babysitters for the day. About a year later, I remarried a nice woman, who had a girl about the same age as my youngest and who was willing to take on my three and love them as her own. I started teaching Adult Sunday School again. This time I was writing my own material, Eventually I had taught through the whole Bible. Of course I saved all my material. Yes, I am self taught, but I think you will find from the reading of my book, that I am familiar with the Bible. I have been teaching the Bible until recently that my heart has been giving my more and more trouble. During my years of teaching, pastors have felt comfortable enough even let me preach a few sermons. Some of those sermons I have included in my book. Before I retired in Feb. 1998, we purchased a 42ft. sailboat to take to the Mission field in the South Pacific. When my wife retired 2012 we bought 35ft. travel trailer and started traveling the eleven wester states including Alaska via British Columbia, we took a month to do that trip. We have taken five trips to the different Islands of Hawaii. Now that we have retired from our many travels, at the SouthWest coast of Washington, we enjoy doing a lot of reading.
