About the Book
This book is based on the story of a young girl that lost everything dear to her, especially her childhood and self-esteem. Later she immigrates to the United States by herself, acting mechanically while her world is crumbling inside. Believing that experience was uniquely hers, she suddenly realizes that many children were also leaving their land like her, leaving behind their childhood dreams, growing up too fast. Children without voices without any understanding, slowly becoming aware of a world that was new to them. They observe everything from the perspective of a child that doesn’t have the time to digest their pain. Suddenly, her world intertwines with many. Many children are going through the same experience. Children that are growing at a rapid pace. Children that are losing more than gaining. Love seemed to be escaping through their tiny hands. Influenced by her father that left too soon, but one that she remembers, and helps her to balance her thoughts. Separated from her brothers, mother and friends. Through her pain that is also shared with many immigrant children, she rises to become a beacon of hope for all. Forever thankful to God and to her adoptive country for opening the doors of hope, the doors of liberty and true justice. Forever connected with millions seeking to live in peace and to give back more than they were given. This is her story, their story. History should be learned so it is never repeated. After all we are the authors of our life.
