Thus, God establishes the divine order of the governance of his kingdom on earth. God, with the knowledge, understanding, and wisdom that only He has, knew that his creation could not be left on its own to run itself. All of creation had to be controlled and directed in order to maintain proper order and accomplish the purpose for which it was created. To do this, God established the line of authority through which this is to be done.
God's crowning achievement in creation was man. When God looked at creation before man, He said, "It is good." After creating man, God looked and said, "It is very good." Unlike God's other creations, man was created in the very image of God, body, mind, and spirit. Each of these attributes of man reflects the attributes of God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. Unlike any other creation, man was not designed or created to operate autonomously. Therefore, man must be actively connected to God to act in accordance with God's will and purpose.
No other creation of God has to be continuously connected to the creator to function properly. A tree does not have to be told or instructed as to when and how to bear fruit. Migrating animals do not have to be instructed as to when, where, and how to migrate. An eagle needs no flight instructions from God directly and no classes on effective nest building. Knowledge of those things is "programmed" into their brain. It is "instinctive."
Other than the survival basics, a human must be taught everything. A human must be instructed as to how to act and react in certain situations. Another important thing is that a person must be taught the difference between good, bad, right, and wrong. God did not intend for man to know evil. God wanted man to know only good and what is right. Gaining this knowledge would not be a "once and done" event, but instead, it would be a lifelong process.
In short, MAN MUST BE GOVERNED! Man must be governed in order to govern all that is under his authority. Man is the intermediary. To help us understand, let's get a good working definition of just what governing is. According to Webster's Dictionary, to govern is "to guide, rule, or control by right or authority: to control or guide the action of something: to restrain." That is an accurate description of the relationship between God and man, as intended in the beginning. That is "government."
Today, when we think of government, we usually think of a king or queen, a president or prime minister. Also, a congress, parliament, or some sort of court system would come to mind. In short, we almost always think of government as it relates to a nation of people, a state, or some other collection of people. Truth is government is much more than that of some man-made system concocted by people to run man's affairs.
There is one thing that characterizes any kind of governance. That is the requirement of the ability to exercise authority. God himself established governance and government at creation in the Garden of Eden. From the beginning, God established the divine order of authority and control with himself at the head. That divine order HAS NOT CHANGED AND WILL NEVER CHANGE! As we have separated ourselves from God, His word, and laws, men have turned to other men for governance. The train has gone so far off the rails that in America, the man-made government has thought itself able to remove governance of man from God! Americans have allowed the government to make the government of God subservient to the government of man by enacting the "separation of church and state" principle as its operating guide.
It is indeed a shame that in the process of time, after sin entered the world, man has separated himself farther and farther from God and, in doing so, has turned more and more to man for governance. The need for protection, provision, and direction dictates that man looks to someone or something outside himself for governing. Lost in the blindness that comes from sin is the realization that the only source of governance sufficient to provide all requirements for man to live in peace and abundance is God, the creator. After separation from God, a great void was created. The need for a governing entity became unavoidably obvious. With the protection, provision, and direction of God no longer in his life, man looked to other men to fill the void of governance.
Initially, God's pattern of governing men was imitated. Men set up kingdoms with a man holding the position of king. The position of a king involves having total and complete authority and control over the lives of the people. That "king" usually obtained that position because of his supposedly "superior" physical attributes. His great strength, forcefulness, and cunning were thought to make him superior to all others. Because of his perceived superiority, people under his control bowed to his perceived "authority." In many cases, this "authority" was believed to come from a god, not the true God, but a god made by man.
