About the Book

This book is packed full of fun underwater activities that will enhance your understanding of the underwater environment. There are many dive sites in the world and there are bad dive experiences that could be avoided. Good planning, being comfortable, and being aware of all the attractions in the area, will make all the difference. It is more fun when you don’t have to struggle and are completely comfortable in the water. That is where this book comes in. Starting at an early age and spending a lot of time under water doing something fun, is the best start. Using as many illustrations as possible, this book will help you develop skills where some material may rush through or skip over. The games may be the best part, but the terms and activities are also meant to help you develop further in what you will need to become a Divemaster yourself someday. Whether you pursue this path or not, this book will encourage you to practice, have patience, and be persistent in obtaining whatever goal you set for yourself.

About the Author

The author grew up outside a Naval Air Station in Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi), TX where his father was stationed and where he would surf with friends out at Padre Island. He moved to northern California in the mid-80s and got in to SCUBA diving shortly after high school. He was certified in the mid-90s and became a Divemaster in 1997. He worked at the local dive shop being passed around between Instructors and working with many classes over the course of seven years. Due to staff shortages, he was encouraged to become an instructor and did so at a dive shop down in Venice, CA (Venice Beach) where he did his dive exercises out at the Channel Islands. He spent a few years teaching around the northern California Valley, in Monterey Bay, and in Lake Tahoe CA. He has been and remains a Professional Dive Association Member for over 25 years now.
