Oscar the Osprey and the Eagle Calamity

Oscar is flying effortlessly, carefully spying the waters below for his next meal. He notices ripples on the water and focuses his excellent vision on prey swimming along just below the surface. This is it! he decides, and he figures the perfect angle to take for a dive. At just the right instant, he ceases flapping, stretches out his wings, and descends sharply increasing his speed as he heads downward. As he swiftly approaches the water, he constantly corrects his dive for the movement of his underwater target. Nearing the surface of the water, he swings his wings back and reaches out with his talonsand fearlessly slams into the water creating a massive splash and goes under water grasping at the fish. Got you! he rejoices in his mind when he latches onto the fish. As he surfaces, Oscar knows his work is not over. Secure your catch! he tells himself, tightens his grip and begins the effort to get airborne with his catch. For an instant, he remembers Otto's almost drowning while trying to catch a fish that was too large for him. Concluding that this fish is not too big, he starts beating his wings against the water and raises himself up above the surface to begin flying. With added effort, he slowly lifts himself out of the water and scrambles up into the air. Once airborne, he twists his whole body back and forth to shake off the water. When satisfied, he resumes flying, turns the fish's head into the wind to reduce the drag from the wind and heads home quite satisfied. Success! he muses, lost in this happy thought.
