She blinked as tears threatened. She began moving again. Weston fell into step with her as the pair strolled around the large gardens. “Your father was an Englishman, am I correct?” Isabelle smiled though memories tugged at her heart. “Yes, my father left England when he was twenty. He claimed he wanted adventure. He told me he wanted to build something new instead of just inheriting what others before him had created.” “A reasonable pursuit, undoubtedly. If everyone were content to rest in what already exists, there would be no advancement.” “He was creative, filled with ideas.” “What was your mother like? She was also English?” Isabelle sunk down onto a decorative stone bench. “No, she was American. Like him, she wanted adventure. They were creative together.” She grew quiet, lost in her own reflections. Weston studied the girl a moment. She seemed a fine young lady, American or no. She was sure to make an impression on society. Perhaps Walsh was not entirely wrong. “Possibly then, like your parents, you will enjoy the adventure of a new life in England.”

Isabelle finds herself immersed in a society she does not understand and surrounded by people who live by a different set of rules. She must adapt to the changes that challenge her while preserving who she is.
About the Author
Victoria began writing long before she could actually write, using images rather than words to tell her stories. She developed her craft through telling the tales of characters similar to herself who aged and grew as she did. Relying on her experiences, she adopted a writing style that portrays snippets of real-world adventures and produces a snapshot of daily life. Victoria grew up surrounded by books and read a variety of styles, and genres throughout her childhood. Her love of literature and creative writing prompted her to complete a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in creative writing. While honing her skills as a writer, Victoria discovered a passion for short fiction and has presented her short stories at academic conferences and workshops. Victoria finds inspiration everywhere, but she learned the most from Stephen King, C.S Lewis, Jane Austen, and Richard Wagamese about narrative voice and the art of story telling.
