About the Author
Carrie McLaren, B.A. (Hons), B.Ed., OCT Carrie McLaren is a Spanish and French high school teacher and author. Former head of the Modern Languages Department at Sir Oliver Mowat, McLaren has made lifelong learning a priority throughout her career. From international exchanges in Spain and Mexico and an immersion program in Costa Rica to continuing education courses at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, McLaren has kept up to date on the current theories of modern language education. Leyté González Navarro, B.Ed., OCT Leyté González Navarro graduated with a bachelor of education (honors) and a major in history and philosophy in Havana, Cuba. Since leaving her country of origin, she has worked as a Spanish teacher for over 20 years, and is currently a French teacher. Also a professional translator, she graduated from Glendon College, York University, Toronto. González Navarro co-authored and edited two editions of Cuaderno de Español and translated Boxeando por Cuba, Historia de un Emigrante, a biography of Guillermo Vicente Vidal.
