Aleksandar and the Lucky Coin is a book about a young Macedonian boy who celebrates Christian Orthodox Christmas, otherwise known as Bozik. One of the very exciting traditions included in this book is the bread which Aleksandar bakes that has a lucky coin in it. About the Author

Marija Tupanceska was born in Macedonia and immigrated to the United States when she was five years old. She has resided in Garfield, New Jersey ever since. Today, she is a Rutgers University graduate and future law student. Marija is an active member of her Macedonian Orthodox Church in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and consistently went to Macedonian folk dance classes, in which she was a part of the first ever Macedonian folk dance group to perform in the U.S. Congress. In addition, Marija admires her father’s political involvement in Macedonia and has had a chance to personally lobby for Macedonia in the U.S. Congress at the age of seventeen. Marija is deeply involved with her Macedonian community in New Jersey and loves sharing her passion for her culture with others.
