Buddy wrote about many subjects, not the least of which was the joy and complexity of our natural wonders. Here's how the author describes the delicate beauty of a butterfly... WINGS OF AZURE You there, butterfly, where will you be tomorrow? Where will you be after I have followed you today? How lovely you are on wings so fragile, where are you going? You have danced from flower to flower spreading their pollen. And you have spread joy this day as I have followed you. Your wings of azure, so delicate, so balanced, where are you going? It would seem, that you would float forever on, toward your destiny. Dancing to and fro, to some hidden flutist’s notes that accompany you. You are so frail yet in some way powerful, where are you going? How long will you comfort me today? Not as long, as I would wish. Your day must end with the wind behind you, carrying you further, further away from my adoration of you, where are you going? How wonderful it must be to see the world from your tiny eyes. Could a heart so tiny beat within your breast for another? Are you searching for him even now? Where are you going? You there butterfly, the daisies are fully blooming for you. They are spread over the field before you in fine array. Can you kiss each one, each and every one? Where are you going? If I could fly with you on your journey to that place you go, could I see the beauty? Could I hear that flute you step to? Would you speak to me gently, and tell me where you are going? I suppose not; you must fly away with little regard for me, and so be it. But you have left no small amount of your gift with me, and I accept. About the Book
This is a book of 93 poems that come from the heart of one who lived and loved life. The poems run the gamut of subject matter, from deadly serious to utterly whimsical and humorous, even nonsensical. The reader will experience poetically, what it meant to grow up in the 50's and 60's as seen through eyes, aspirations, hopes and dreams of a southern Indiana boy. Most of the poems are written in groups of 4-line verses and attempt to rhyme at the end of the lines. In other words, they share a close similarity to music lyrics. Sometimes, readers will experience sentence structure that reads like Old English but that is one of the hidden gems of the book. Either way, you can't help but experience love, joy and wonder in a unique way as it is penned by this author.
About the Author
Buddy Hendricks was many things in his lifetime. He was a student, athlete, soldier, parent, teacher, lodge member, animal shelter director, poet and friend. But more importantly, Buddy was a lover of people, animals and nature. He enjoyed and celebrated the vibrations of life. In short, he recognized that while humanity is not perfect, it is nevertheless the state in which all of us find ourselves and he chose to write about it through the medium of poetry.
