The Delivery Room

Purpose has been the topic of every pulpit, social media platform, and conference event in recent years. Everyone is speaking and teaching about purpose wherever you go. Walking with purpose is being solicited as nothing more than an empty shell with no insight into its meaning. Therefore, people are looking to find their purpose in an empty place. There is so much more to a person's understanding of their God-given purpose. There are so many steps in discovering purpose and birthing purpose before walking into who God ordained you to be. When there is no foundation laid about discovering your purpose, it leaves people wondering how to identify their purpose or wondering if they will ever identify their purpose. If they have attempted to find their purpose and still have not discovered it, the person is often left with a sense of failure. What does this mean? We must provide insight into the pursuit of purpose. In the journey of discovering a person's purpose, there are phases that one must face in order to walk into who God has designed them to be. Jesus paid a hefty price as he completed His journey on earth. Jesus' sole purpose for coming to earth was to shed His precious blood on the cross to atone for our sins. How can a person walk in purpose, run into destiny, and fulfill the promise of God if no one goes through the process? Newsflash: The process must come before the promise! God does not just grant you the promise without taking you through a process of stripping and rebuilding. Think about the many stages that a mother faces when preparing to give birth to a child.  An expecting mother does not find out she is pregnant until she goes to the doctor and gives birth to the baby. There is a nine-month process that she has to go through. The birth process goes from conception to the delivery room. Before discovering your purpose, you must first establish an intimate relationship with God. The place of intimacy with God is the place of developing a closer relationship with Him. It is the place where you find your true identity. You must get to know the Father; first. In knowing Him, you are connected to the Holy Spirit and begin to learn who you are in Him. God has a purpose for each of us, and it is much greater than our own personal fulfillment and desires. We must seek God to understand His reason for putting us here on earth. If your starting point focuses on you, you will never discover your life's purpose. You were born for God's plan to be fulfilled on earth. Jeremiah 1:5 states, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; and before you were born, I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations."
