About the Book

This book is a collection of poetry written at the lowest points in life. The poetry portrays strong emotions that many are afraid to feel, or even understand. The title A Beautifully Painted Lie describes what people want life to be seen as. Hiding ugly truths, which leads to hiding “ugly” feelings. These poems let go of that stereotype that some feelings are bad and others are good. Feelings just are, and all are allowed to feel them.

About the Author

Isabella Francis was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Despite grappling with Dyslexia growing up, Isabella still found her passion for reading and writing and sought comfort through storytelling. As young as 11 years old, she began writing poetry as a means of seeking cathartic release. Having felt that she lacked a safe space at home, Isabella created her own through poetry. Utilizing words as a form of healing has made her realize that she wants to share her story to others who may be struggling with finding their place in the world too.
