About the Book

This book is for colorful children everywhere who like to create by letting their imaginations run wild. An imagined world can become a beautiful reality if you believe it can. "Try to create. I want to tell people to create. Just start by creating your day. Then create your life." - Prince (The Beautiful Ones, 2019, p. 47)

About the Author

Yolanda L. Everett is a teacher in Atlanta, Georgia who has taught gifted students for 29 years. This is her second children's book. She encourages students to use their creativity in extraordinary ways. " It is quite challenging to get children to be creative because everything is just as simple as a click of the button in this technology driven world," says Everett. "Growing up, my friends and I didn't have the same technology as kids today so, we had to use our imaginations to create our own world of fun. We would dream of things we wanted to do and be. I think being creative makes the world a fun, brighter, and happier place because you can create your own reality if you just believe."

About the Illustrator:

Annik Dupaty is a Black Biracial illustrator who lives in Wisconsin with her husband and children, and a beloved collection of records and Prince inspired artworks. Although drawing was her earliest form of creative expression, she has been dabbing in many art disciplines her whole life. She has worked in an art museum for over 10 years, but is still regularly awed and amazed by human creativity, and wishes all children would be encouraged to express themselves through art. My Imagined World: A Story inspired by Prince Rogers Nelson is the first book she's illustrated.
