About the Book

Star and her stuffed sloth, Slothie, do everything together. They are the best of friends. Star wishes more than anything that her stuffed sloth would come to life. The only place where this type of magic could take place would be in Costa Rica, at a one-of-a-kind sloth sanctuary. Star embarks on the adventure of a lifetime and slowly witnesses the magic that brings her sloth to life. As Slothie discovers his sense of happiness and home in Costa Rica, Star realizes he will be happiest if he stays there. Thanks to her inner strength and love for Slothie, Star discovers that sometimes letting go is the deepest form of love one can give. It is a love that can bless so many others-in this case, a family of sloths.

About the Author

Diana Boro is a children’s book writer based in the Pacific Northwest. She received a B.A. in Sociology & Education from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. She has been involved in many outreach programs and child advocacy efforts. Diana was awarded in 2009 and 2010 with the Donald T. Bliss community service award in recognition for her love and time spent in the community. She also has a passion for everything African and dreams of one day opening her own orphanage or school in Kenya. Slothie is her first published book and was entirely inspired by her daughter. In her spare time, Diana enjoys trying new vegan recipes, photography, learning Swahili and going to the beach. Diana lives in the Seattle area with her husband, David, and their two children, Nova and Lovie King.
