About the Author

Octavia a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has faced immense adversity throughout her life. Growing up without many positive role models or stable influences—spiritually, physically, mentally, or financially—she was left to navigate her journey largely on her own. Instead of succumbing to these challenges, Octavia chose to lean on the wisdom and guidance of strangers who helped shift the narrative of laziness, immaturity, and stagnation for both herself and her children’s future. In this process, she discovered God in a profound way, encountered successful individuals, and connected with others also striving for success, transforming past trauma into the fuel needed for future challenges. Her walk of faith has not only strengthened her belief in Jesus Christ but also sparked a deep passion to help others, especially the younger generation. This poetry book, though simple in its approach, delivers a direct, in-yourface message: Stand up to the adversities of life. Don’t run from them. Don’t sit idly by. And above all, never lie down while life is moving forward. Life will eventually give you the chance to prove who you are—so stop waiting in the back of the line, thinking you’re less than you are. Octavia hopes you find inspiration in this book, just as she found joy and purpose in writing it.
