We have been living here in New Mexico for about a year. However, today is moving day. Yes, I am only three and we are moving to a third home. Our new home is a teeny tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean just north of the equator. The name of this island is Kwajalein. Mom and Dad call it Kwaj. I am so excited! I can hardly wait to see our new home. Now I do not know about you, but I do not know what an ocean is. I asked Mom what an ocean is. She said it is a giant body of water. Later, she went on to mention that people swim in the ocean. Playing in the water was my very first memory. I thought it was simply divine! Mom also told me that fish and other sea animals live in the ocean, animals like the: Turtle, Humpback Whale, Seahorse, Dolphin, Clown Fish, and Monk Seal. I love animals. This ocean thing kept sounding better and better.

About the Author
Beginning with poetry, Anake Kanike has been writing since the age of nine. Her first poem, “The Coming of Winter,” verbally paints a picturesque winter’s scene, and won second place in the school’s High School Poetry Contest. Focusing on Marketing as her major, Anake Kanike went on to write numerous papers for her Bachelor’s degree, one which was published in the “Journal of Retail Marketing Management Research”. As her father’s health was declining, she began to recall old memories with him that inspired her to write in his memory her children’s series, “Jan’s Kwajalein Adventures”.
