The Heart of A Widow

On November 22, 2013 my true love passed away When all was said and done, I was numb by end of day. So many things in my head, I knew I needed to do. All I kept thinking was "How am I supposed to live without you?" It's difficult to plan for tomorrow when I knew I had to face this same sorrow. Throughout the holidays, I muddled my way thru Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve too. I questioned how to find my joy? I felt like God had taken away my favorite human/toy. Finally on Christmas night, when all alone, I cried and I cried I could not find any consolation for the pain I felt inside. No one knows (not mother or children) just how I feel. There's no medicine I can take, not in liquid form or pill So each day I wake up with an inspirational scripture or phrase And I prepare in the mirror for work, with starry eyes dazed. I move about my day doing my daily tasks and chores. I try not to focus on my own emotional sores Until at the close of the day, upon my days end That's when I return home, go to bed and my sadness starts again. So I read a word to comfort my spirit, mind and body. Still my heart remains fragile and I feel physically lousy. How long I ask? How long will this grief last? An inner spirit answers "not long for this too shall pass". Joy will come in the morning; in this I trust and sleep As I pray to the Lord, my soul He will keep
