About the Book

Let’s Eat, Pete! It’s Lunchtime at School, is about time management and being open minded about individual eating preferences. We all know picky or finicky eaters and habitually tardy pupils. Children always look forward to a midday lunchtime hour long refreshing break. Getting to let loose with friends, while enjoying something tasty and munchable, followed by a rec break in the school yard was a big treat and highlight of the day. In school, I was almost always hungry the last 1/2 hour; sometimes the belly growling was downright distracting. The tummy echo sometimes prompted kids to glance over with a laughable look, guffawing at my gastro discomfort. I’m sure they could all relate as few kids ever had adequate time to get enough breakfast to tide them over til lunch, usually because of tight schedules. We were 5 and it was tough to gobble down enough breakfast before rolling out to not be late. It was a daily challenge not just for us but my beleaguered patient parents. I love all animals big and small, and my characters are almost always loveable creatures, with personality, and attitude, and with lessons to teach and learn, just like big and little kids everywhere.

About the Author

The author was born in NYC, living for 5 years a stones throw from the East River and Gracie Mansion in Yorkville, in the Borough of Manhattan. The Central Park Zoo was close by and its coterie of creatures became a favorite spot for the young family that soon included 3 younger siblings. The animals were curious and exotic and enchanting; thus began a lifelong love of the environment and wildlife. When it was time to start school his family moved 25 miles North to the suburban city of White Plains, NY., in Westchester County. He first attended the North Street School where Miss Rae nurtured a love of reading and learning and exploring ideas that continues unabated until today. The author today makes his home in Coconut Grove FL, where he enjoys nature, conservation, and Florida’s abundant natural diversity. Manatees, dolphins, alligators, iguanas, ibises and pelicans are favorites he looks forward to observing, and writing about too.
