Although still very much a Freshman in my understanding, I have come to realize that most of us are unaware of our true Self, since our consciousness is 'tethered' to our self-image (ego), and that very few of us will ever achieve Enlightenment, that state of mind where true inner freedom and liberation can be realized. I am by no means enlightened, but I do feel 'lighter', having lifted ("released") some of the pain from my heart.
