About the Book

After graduating from Taylor University, Sam teamed up with his cousin to form the S and H detective agency in Marston Indiana. They are using their talents and instincts as special deputies assisting Sheriff Byron Neverfine solve serious crimes. The year is 1948. Although the war in Europe has ended, the Nazi influence in Indiana persists. Detectives Sam and Howie are assigned by the sheriff to follow and assist in the arrest of Gerhard and Horst, two Nazi jail breakers on the lam from Marston. These two felons acted as protégés of Red Fox, former Nazi colonel assigned to the state of Indiana as chief of espionage.


About the Author

The author, George S. Haines, reared on a working farm near the action of this novel, knows the local people and their basic character. Each of his adventure stories reflects this influence on his early years. Haines graduated from Purdue University with B.S. and M.S. degrees. He earned his doctorate at George Peabody College for Teachers now a college at Vanderbilt University. He taught students from the seventh grade through adults. At Taylor University, he served as professor of education and director of teacher education.
