The first time I got diagnosed was right after medical school. I noticed I had a grain of sand on my right nipple, approximately 1.5- 2mm. Iam guy that isnot sup[ose to be there. NOw see, I graduated in May but from the last six months of medical school to my first roatation in residency, at Shock Trauma, I was bothered by this nodule. It didn't hurt but it bothered me because I felt that it was there. One day, I was talking to my attending physician and happened to mention it. She casually told me to come to her office. Once I finished describing it, she said it sounds like a lipoma, and she was going to take it out. Fast forward, she ended up doing a core biopsy. They biopsy everything. Her being thorough, she read the slide herself, it was ductal carcinoma in situ. She didn't believe it. So she looked at it, brought me to look at it, and it looked just like in histology class. It was pink cells with all purple through it. Disbelief was the only word I can think of how I felt at that moment. That and I was waiting for Ashton Crutcher to come out and say I was being punked.
