Leo and his little sister, Lucy, went on a hiking adventure with their Grandma Dana along the Saint Louis River, along with her mini-dachshund, Tilly Lu. They find a very old bottle floating in the river that contains a treasure map and three magic stones. The map is full of hints of finding the hidden treasure of the Sax-Zim Bog. Grandma Dana tells Leo and Lucy the story behind the Sax-Zim Bog. Hundreds of years ago, the Sax-Zim Bog was a raging dead sea. The sea was home to mystical creatures, mermaids, pirates and many hidden treasures. Legend has it that the most feared pirate that sailed the dead seas of the Sax-Zim Bog was Captain Copper Ravenoski, along with his raven, Rodrigo. They, along with many other pirates, were in search of the most exquisite hidden treasure that once belonged to the beautiful enchantress, Zelda. The enchantress, Zelda, had cast a spell upon the treasure. He or she that finds the treasure must have a good soul and pure heart, not one of evil or they would perish upon finding her enchanted treasure. Did Captain Copper Ravenoski find the treasure? Did he meet a horrible fate? Grandma Dana, Leo and Lucy take the map, rub the magic stones and find themselves, along with Tilly Lu, at Pirates Cove in an enchanted world in another time. This leads them on a magical journey of finding the enchanted hidden treasure of the Sax-Zim Bog. They follow the hints of the map by skipping across the waterfall of ghostly whispers, and creeping past a sleeping black tarantula of spells. They walk across a swinging rope bridge above the valley of lost souls, and dart shooting flames and fire from an angry talking volcano. Leo steals a key from the skeletons mouth in the harmonic jungle of immortals. They float across a mystical lake of sea creatures and set sail on the oceanic waters prior to making their way to the raging dead seas in search of the haunted bog, where the enchanted treasure is hidden. They make many whimsical diverse friends along the way. Their journey is full of many obstacles, challenges and triumphs. They learn the value of teamwork, the purity of imagination, the strength in belief and the power in love. Their adventure will have you spellbound and anticipating what will happen next. The most feared pirate was Captain Copper Ravenoski, and he set out to find a treasure hidden by an enchantress—the very treasure described by the map. Now Grandma Dana, Tilly Lu, and the kids have a chance to take a magical journey and find that treasure themselves. But they’ll have to face many dangers and challenges along the way. About the Author
Dana Sanders has lived in northern Minnesota her entire life. She has worked in the health care industry for the past eighteen years in various leadership and educational positions. She has also played an instrumental role in advocating for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and communities and is the author of numerous human interest articles. She and her husband, Jeff, have a blended family of five daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
