About the Book

Our mind is very important to us because it is our decision-making mechanism. God created the human mind as a combination of conscious and unconscious processes (thoughts) of the brain that direct our mental and physical behavior. Our thoughts influence our actions. The sinful mind is hostile to God. Our lives are to be transformed by the Lord Jesus Christ and this transformation is brought about by renewing our minds.

About the Author

God created the human mind as a combination of conscious and unconscious processes (thoughts) of the brain that direct our mental and physical behavior. Our thoughts influence our actions. It follows, then, that if we want to act like Christ, we must also think like Him. With the mind we exercise the power of reason, conceive ideas and use judgment. It stores our intellect, as distinguished from emotion or will. Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind”. At the early age of nine, I felt a “calling” to the gospel ministry of Christ. After graduating high school in Alexandria, Louisiana, I obtained four degrees, Bachelor Degree in Theology. B.S. degree in English, M. Ed. In Education Leadership and an Ed. D. in Education Leadership. I taught English classes in public schools and parochial schools and was also principal of public high schools and parochial schools. During this time, I pastored many churches, and would later go into full-time ministry and travel internationally in the service of the Lord. After being in college for years, having a family and pastoring, I began to notice that the condition of my mind on any given day had a bearing on how I felt about a variety of subjects. I felt on certain days like there was ball caroming around my mind without direction. At time, I felt somewhat confused and many times I lacked concentration. I began to study the Bible and what it had to say about “The Mind”. I actually felt like I was training my mind and little did I know, I was doing just that. As I studied, the Apostle Paul said all believers should have “the mind of Christ”. I Corinthians 2:16 – “For, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ” (NIV). Paul quotes and then makes a statement concerning all believers: “We have the mind of Christ.” Having the mind of Christ means sharing the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ, and it is something that all believers possess. From this point on, I saw that having the mind of Christ meant I understood God’s plan in the world, to bring glory to Himself, restore creation to its original splendor, and provide salvation for sinners. It means we identify with Christ’s purpose “to seek and to save what was lost”. Thus the book, “THE MIND”.
