About the Book

This book is what it is, an autobiography, better still, a graphic representation of my difficult but joyous upbringing in a communal setting marshalled by a most wonderful and loving mother, aunties, and uncles, the harsh cultural and traditional norms that daily confronts and subjugates our existence. The book showcases the struggles of one man from his native Nigerian state to the United Kingdom where he experienced myriad trials that blighted his life and career yet surmounted all the challenges to live life to its’ fullest. This piece of work lifts the lid on racism and how it can change the psychological and mental state of a man for better or for worse. It is also an encouraging piece of work, directing many to be resilient, focused, tenacious, be disciples of hard work, maintain strict discipline of their emotions and never give up on their dreams. It is emotive, energizing and a very inspirational read.

About the Author

Winston Chisom Chukwudi is a vibrant, buoyant, engaging, intelligent, and interesting character that can best be described as loyal, vivacious, altruistic and very dependable personality who is faithful to his ideals with a high zest for life. These qualities are woven within the fabric of the enthralling autobiography that he tells with great skill. He sets out to inspire confidence by telling the world about his struggles without a father from an early age, his travails whilst living with his elder siblings and close relatives, his beautiful and hard-working mother who went through the thread-mill of life to put food on the table for all of her fourteen children. He sheds light on the horrors of emigrating to the United kingdom from his native Nigerian homeland in search of greener pastures only to be confronted by Red Tape, bigotry and institutionalized racism which hit him so badly to the point of depression and contemplating suicide. By sheer insistence, persistence and doggedness with absolute trust and dependence on God Almighty whom he describes as His Bulwark and Anchor of his soul from early childhood to adult hood, he has weathered the storm to achieve some successes. He is married to a dutiful, professional and successful wife who can best be described as God’s gift of a life partner with whom he has 3 adorable children. He hopes his experiences and resilience can motivate others to not throw in the towel of defeat so easily in the face of raging storms of life, household and external trials and unforeseen circumstances. In his emotive work, he sermonizes that regardless of who we are, our origins, our vocations, our religious inclinations, our pains, challenges, unplanned or forced vicissitudes or even tragedies we might suffer and how we choose to overcome the trials before us, we must persevere, dream big and follow our dreams.
