About the Book

Sammy’s Science is a collection of nature science facts told in story form, as heard on the Donkey Dan radio broadcasts that spanned four years of Sunday mornings on the old KLKY Prescott Valley Arizona Station. Many stories were told on the Farmer Family Album segment, and these are some of the science stories as told by George. These stories are based on the real-life moments of George growing up and when he had a family. Some stories were just notes and never made it to the show before we ended. Sammy’s Science will give you fun facts about our natural world of both animals and plants. Though it geared toward ages 9–16, adults would still like the science facts.

About the Author

C. G. Thompson was born on January 18th in Amarillo Texas on a poultryranch. It was during 5th grade in Mrs. Whites class as Garfield school that he discovered his love of nature. He was the student that collected food, watered, handled and cleaned out the homes of all the class creatures. In fact it was George that collected from the wild some of the creatures himself. He from that year on considered himself to be an amateur naturalist and had different animals all during his life, He not only read zoological books but studied the animals themselves both in the wild and in the zoo. Even today at 74 with his eyesight being far from great and his hearing poor he can still detect the movement of living things in the tress, grass and on rocks. He often says that he has forgotten more than most people know when it comes to nature. George along with his wife Donna started the Donkey Dan show on K.L.K.Y out of Prescott Valley Arizona near the end of 1987. On each Sunday Morning broadcast they told a story using their characters. Some of tehse stories were fantasy but some were full of science taken from the natural world around us. They did their program for close to four years. Some of these science stories never made it to our broadcast before we ended our show. Most of the stories inside here are some of the nature science facts as told in story form on the show by George over the four years of the Donkey Dan Show. Sammy Skunk
