Cages! They are not funny. I heard someone say one - I don't remember who it was or where it was or when it was - "always leave the cage door open so the bird can return."
Well, dogs are not birds. Leave our doors ope and we'll skedaddle as fast as four legs can carry us. Who wants to live so confined, with wire and metal to cut the pawas and only a set of bars to look through? Of course, me, with only one eye.
I'm here now. I thank the God of Togetherness. I am here for HER - as SHE is here for me...my person, in HER arms, in my own forever home.

About the Book
This is the poignant story of the bond created between a ninety-two-year-old widow who lives alone and an eleven-year-old toy poodle, with one good eye, who is a graduate of a puppy mill. Told in the little dog’s voice, it depicts the love and solace they find together and the value of adopting an aging pet to share one’s golden years.
About the Author
Elizabeth Cooke was a member of the board of directors of The Bide-A-Wee Home Association in New York, a no-kill animal shelter complex, for over 30 years. The last ten years of her tenure, she served as chairman of the board. She has been an animal activist her whole life.
