He wished he did not remember hearing the thunder pounding through the sky ferociously drowning out the usual noises of nature; the flashes of lightening lit up the sky with the fog rolling in when the torrential rains started beating down on the hull; the winds increased and the stern picked up on a wave causing it to pivot on the bow, and the boat capsized. John's reminiscing had him so removed from reality he didn't realize that he missed his turn and lost control of his car. He was startled when he saw blinding headlights coming toward him; he felt his body being thrust up as he heard the crash and lost consciousness. John was in a coma yet he began to groan and moan, often shouting out something that was not understood. Dr. Block asked his wife Martha if John had PTSD from his service in the Vietnam War, which is somewhat like being mentally tortured. "Was John bilingual?" Dr. Block asked.
