About the Author

Wairimu Njonjo-Bassen grew up in Kenya, was educated in England and qualified as a barrister. She worked in London at the Criminal Bar before moving back to Kenya and setting up the East African Whale Shark Trust www.giantsharks.org with her husband philanthropist Volker Bassen. She now spends her time between London and Diani where she and Volker live with their 4 children. She is passionate about the ocean and educating future generations about marine life and the beauty to be found under the sea.
