The Best Is Yet to Come

I believe you will meet the same Ruth Merritt in her book, The Best is Yet to Come. The simple faith in which it was written will inspire you to return to basic Biblical truths. It will remind you of the stubborn love and amazing grace of Almighty God, and it will portray a radiant example of one who is just simply walking in the Spirit. This book is full of the Word because its author is full of the Word. It is believable because she believes the Word of God with all of her heart. There is a certain mystery about someone who has really surrendered all to the Lord. It stirs questions in the observer whether we want it to or not. I found myself trying to discover the secret of the peace she had found. I knew the answer would be "Jesus." I know Him; have known Him for many years. But I longed for the quiet peace I felt in Ruth's home that evening. Finally I asked. She took me to a spare room in her home, and there on the floor lay a few blankets which she called her pallet. She explained how the Holy Spirit would often wake her and speak with her there; wrapping her in His presence for hours at a time. She told me that many times she didn't know what to pray, but would just cry out to Him. "I have a pallet and I pray," I reasoned within. And yet I wept for myself as I saw her brokenness. I wept at my unbrokenness and longed to go deeper into the love of God which requires not some, but all of me.
