About the Author
Discrimination is an ugly word. It’s not something that you’re born with; it’s something that’s taught. Most immigrants in the United States have faced some sort of discrimination, and many books have been written about the subject. My book relates to the tribulations of a Japanese family for the better part of the twentieth century. As a young Jewish girl, born in Brooklyn, New York, I got my first job through a headhunter. I was just sixteen years old when I went to work on Wall Street for a banking investment firm. The employees were from all over the New York City area. The experience was invaluable. It taught me how to work and get along with and enjoy all types of people. My husband and I live in South Carolina. When we decided to retire, we picked a state that had a change of seasons. My philosophy is be active and enjoy.
