A long time ago I read a book about a girl whose parents had done something very, very brave, but they didn’t tell her about it until she was all grown up.
When she found out about the secret, she became very angry and asked her father, “Daddy, why didn’t you tell me?”
Her father said, “Remember when you were a little girl and rode on a train to visit your grandmother?”
“Yes,” the girl, who was now a young woman, replied.
“Well, do you remember that you wanted to carry your own suitcase to the train station?” her father continued.
“Yes, I remember,” said his daughter.
“But,” continued her father, “I carried your suitcase for you because it was too heavy for you.”
“Okay,” said his daughter, “but what does that have to do with what we are talking about?”
“Well, you see,” her father explained, “I think the information I never told you about until today was just too heavy for a child to carry, just like your suitcase was.”
