Whenever Neesy's father would come home late at night, her mother would start yelling than the her father would start, on this particular night there was a weird silence that opened the few minutes of the night. Then the front door opened. Several thoughts ran through her head. Are they going to leave me? Are they going outside to talk? She jumped out of bed and ran to the window. Neesy's mother kept pulling on her father's clothes yelling and swinging her arm up and down at his back. When he turned around he pointed something at her. A loud noise that sounded like a fire cracker that they played with on the 4th of July and smoke came from the something that her father pointed. Her mother’s body fell to the ground hard. Neesy just watched as her father got into the car and drove away. Neesy's Thomasina doll called her to the room. “Just get into bed!” Thomasina said. Neesy climb into bed and told Thomasina everything that she had just seen. She lied in her bed still and quiet until people with uniforms entered her home with her neighbor. Her mother would wake up soon and be mad with all these people in her house.

About the Book
Young Anneese Beasley( Neesy) lived in a home with her dysfunctional family. Her father worked constantly, and she didn't have a relationship with her mother, who drank a lot and hadn't been professionally diagnosed as an alcoholic so she didn't think it was a problem. They lived in a ranch-style house in Atlanta, Georgia, with a large backyard where Anneese could escaped often. Anneese carried a doll around that her mother couldn't stand. Like any child, Anneese wanted to have a relationship with her mother. However, the continuous fighting by her mother and father at night prevented any day time happiness with her mother when they were alone. She only had her doll to talk to and the only one she could trust.
About the Author
Sheila Hill experienced many trials as a child. She has overcome them by trusting her inner voice and leaning not on her own understanding as to how life should be. Through the love and support of her family and friends, she has accomplished goals and constantly renews herself through the inspiration of God. She has raised four children. She graduated with an AS in paralegal studies and a BA in psychology.
