Cry Out
Have you ever experienced a hurt, lost, pain, disappointment, heartbreak that caused you to hurt to the core of your being? I have experienced all the above. It was as if the pain was so severe that it (the pain) took my breath away. Perhaps during your pain, you were like me and asked God for emotional healing. After all, we all need emotional healing at one point or another in life. Can you relate?
Often times in life we experience situations that are harsh and cruel. We feel broken and lifeless. We don’t know who to turn to or how to deal with life’s heartaches and pains. Most of the time, as a last resort, we cry out to God. Cry for whatever our need is at that time, hoping – with our last drop of hope that God would hear us and rescue us.
“Lord, I need you. I can’t go on this way. I am at the end of my rope. I honestly cannot take this pain another day. If you don’t rescue me – I am afraid of what might happen to me. Please God, help me as I can no longer help myself.”
That was my prayer with rivers of tears flowing down my face. I was in pain and hopeless; at the fork in the road. I could not eat or sleep. I didn’t know which way to turn, as well as, wondering if God would let me down like so many others or if he would actually help me.
Psalm 51:17 (NLT)
17The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
I did exactly what Hebrews 4:16 says; I cried out to God. I was not in a pretty place. I was in the middle of my sins and sorrows, but cried out to God anyway. I did not see it at the time, but my ‘cry out’ took boldness and faith (hope). All I had to offer God was me – just as I was. Therefore, I took my heartache, pain and my endless stream of tears to God. I took it all to God and asked for help.
Psalm 142:2 (NIV)
I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble.
Psalm 142:2 says, “Pour out my complaints before Him; tell my troubles before Him.” God is here for us. God is here to help us. God loves us and waits for the opportunity to bless us. With my last drop of hope – I hoped in God. Not people, not things, but God. And God did not let me down or fail me. God will not fail you!
Just as you are go before the Lord. No matter your current conditions cry out to God for help. Allow God to invade your space. Allow God to stop the tears and the pain. Give it all, including you, to God. Let Him turn your mess into a miracle. If God picked me up and brushed me off then He will do the same and more for you! He will not fail you; give Him the opportunity to show you His tender mercy, grace and love.
Take time to mediate on the scriptures below. Allow God to open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing (a word) tailored and designed specifically for you. Now use the space provided to write down the anointed words so that you will never forget God’s promises to you. As you read the scriptures, apply those principles to your daily life, and watch God infuse his super with your natural and produce supernatural events in your life.
1. Psalm 46:1-3 (KJV)
1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
2. Psalm 121:1-3 (KJV)
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
3. Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds
4. 1 Peter 5:6 - 7 (KJV)
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
